Joe Pinnavaia, the guitarist behind Test Tube Rhino, always had an interest in the guitar as far back as he could remember, but it was not until the age of 13 that Joe started formal lessons focusing on what would be the basis for technique as well as broadening his musical vocabulary. He studied with guitarist Tony Scozzaro, and started his formal studies at Villa Maria College playing with various musicians from the Buffalo community. In 2004, Joe started his own solo project known as Test Tube Rhino, which is his outlet for the experimental and selfish side of his playing. This outlet allows Joe to experiment with songwriting, textures, improvisation and just plain going off! With the release of his first solo effort, InVitro, Joe hopes to take the listener on a journey with soundscapes that evoke an emotion that creates a personal relationship between the listener and the artist.
