Jetty Subject To High Surf represents the reunion of the Vara-Tones -- back to make their latest contribution to this often overlooked but classic sector of American music. This CD, their first full length album, contains a varied set of new surf tunes featuring three original members -- guitarist Bill Epps, drummer Rick Campbell and bassist Gary Sunda -- as well as Terry Zimmerman, bass player from '63 to '65. Four of the songs on tha album ("Vara-Tone Stomp", "Rendezvous Run", "Sunset At The Wedge", "Groo-V-Chicken") are originals which were actually written in the '60s but never recorded (or remembered!) until now. Jetty Subject To High Surf also contains, as a bonus track, the Vara-Tones' 1964 single "Repeto", which has been included on several surf music compilations and featured on college radio stations around the country.
