Fusion
Dutch drummer Rene Engel's Nostalgia is a 21st century fusion release, which also features the amazing Richard Hallebeek playing incendiary guitar, guitar synth and VG-88 that afficionados of Scott Henderson, Allan Holdsworth and Scott McGill will immediately latch onto. Engel is an impressive drummer/percussionist who delves into styles such as jazz, fusion and Latin music. Obviously it helps to be a strong drum lover - there are two drum solo tracks ("Sikat Sekau Laki, Nyong! (Parts 3 & 4)") and a few additional drum solos in the songs. Bassist David de Marez Oyens keeps a the groove solid throughout Nostalgia. Fine fusion performances are turned in by all musicians, and guitar fans need to hear Hallebeek whenever possible. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Fusion), total running time, 48:45
