Out Loud is the debut recording from Ohio based guitarist Steve Langemo. The recording features all original compositions ranging from moody jazz quartet tunes to electric funk/fusion. Steve is equally adept in both
settings, turning in Metheny-esque lines on his straight ahead material, and showing his Henderson/Holdsworth influences in the electric setting. Along with Steve on guitar, Out Loud features Cincinnati musicians Mike Sharfe on bass, Adam Wheeler on drums, Eric Baumgartner on keyboards, Dwayne
Irvin on saxophone, and Charlie Schweitzer on percussion. The album's opening track, "Junkie Club", is a chaotic fusion composition reminiscent of Tribal Tech that perfectly demonstrates Steve's ability to balance harmonic sophistication with visceral rock guitar influences. The opener is followed by a dark jazz waltz entitled "Chaos Theory" that allows Steve to stretch out with some expressive and angular hollowbody lines.
These two tracks set the stage for an interesting album that maintains a balance between sophisticated harmonies, engaging melodies, a variety of moods and textures, and fantastic playing throughout. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Fusion/Jazz), total running time, 45:53 - Steve Langemo @ iTunes!
