Once payment has been received by us and verified (usually within 24 hours), you'll be sent an e-mail which will direct you to our G9 BackStage! area (a link to which appears at the bottom of every Guitar Nine Records page), where you will be able to sign on and manage all of your sponsorship pages.
Each page can have its own unique sponsor name and message, or you can simply use the same name and text for every page - it's up to you.
Below, you'll find a sample of how the Page Sponsorships area of G9 BackStage!.will look.
Page Sponsporship Management Elements
Let's walk through, top-to-bottom, some of the elements you'll see in the Page Sponsorships management area.
Owner: Your name and e-mail will appear here.
Link to Sponsorship Overview: This is simply a link back to the information you are currently reading, which serves as a help page and program resource.
Currently selected page with message preview: Next, you'll see the name of the page you are sponsoring, along with a preview of how your sponsor name, link and message will appear on that page. If you have not set up your information yet, the information area will be blank of course. Also, if your name, link and message have not been approved by us as yet, you'll see the text 'Pending Approval', in red.
The words 'Current Selection' only have meaning if you are sponsoring more than one page. If you only sponsor one page, that page will always be the current selection. If you are sponsoring multiple pages (thank you!), you can preview any page's message by going to the 'Your Page Sponsorships' section, and clicking on the 'Select' link next to the page you want to preview.
Your Page Sponsorships: This section lists every page you are sponsoring, one per line, and contains a link to the actual page, the price for the page, and the expiration date of the sponsorship. If the sponsorship is not yet live (payment not yet received, initial message not yet approved, etc.), under 'Live?' it will say 'No'. If the sponsor name, link and message have not yet been approved by us, under 'Pending Approval?' it will say 'Yes'.
Name Match: Again, only meaningful if you are sponsoring more than one page. This column shows which of the pages you are sponsoring are currently set up with the same sponsor name and link as the 'Current Selection'.
This is useful if you have 10 page sponsorships set up with one name and 10 page sponsorships set up with another name - you can quickly see which pages go with the 'Current Selection'.
Text Match: Likewise, only meaningful if you are sponsoring more than one page. This column shows which of the pages you are sponsoring are currently set up with the same sponsor message text as the 'Current Selection'.
Again, this useful if you have 10 page sponsorships set up with one message and 10 page sponsorships set up with another message - you can quickly see which pages go with the 'Current Selection'.
Select: Click the 'Select' button on the line to make that page the 'Current Selection'.
Edit Name / Link / Message Section The last area allows you to update your Sponsor Name, Link [can be a web site (http://www.site.com), web page (http://www.site.com/joeguitar), or e-mail link (mailto:joe@guitar.com)], and Sponsor Message.
Update what? This drop-down selection allows you to specify exactly which page (or pages) you wish to update. If you only have one sponsored page, the default will work for you; it is always set to the 'Current Selection'.
Only xxxxx.html Page The option means just update the currently selected page with whatever you've entered below when the 'Update' button is pressed. The last 4 selections are only applicable to sponsors with more than one page.
Only Name/Link for Pages where 'Name Match' Checked The option means just update the sponsor name and link for any page with a check mark under the 'Name Match' column in the 'Your Page Sponsorships' area. The long sponsor message is ignored in this case, even if it has been edited. This allows you to quickly change the name and link for multiple pages by checking off the pages you wish to update.
Only Text for Pages where 'Text Match' Checked The option means just update the sponsor text message for any page with a check mark under the 'Text Match' column in the 'Your Page Sponsorships' area. The sponsor name and link are ignored in this case, even if they have been edited. This allows you to quickly change the sponsor text message for multiple pages by checking off the pages you wish to update.
Both Name/Link and Text for Pages where Both Checked This mouthful of an option means just update all the sponsor information for any page with a check mark under both the 'Text Match' column and the 'Name Match' column in the 'Your Page Sponsorships' area. This allows you to quickly duplicate all the sponsor information onto multiple pages by checking off the pages you wish to update.
All Pages (Ignore Check Boxes) Finally, this comprehensive option means just update all the sponsor information for every page you are currently sponsoring. Any and all check boxes are ignored. This allows you to quickly duplicate all the sponsor information onto all of your sponsored pages.
Update Always remember to click the 'Update' button for your edits to take effect.
Final Tips
Keep a close eye on the character count next to the sponsor text message edit area, especially after you have just performed an update. If the character count is exactly 249 or 250, there is a good chance the message may have been cut off. The computer just lops off everything after character 250, so look at the message carefully and make sure it reads the way you want it to. You can always change it again if you need to, but make sure you also set the 'Update What?' correctly, to ensure the computer does what you want it to.
Also, be sure to test your links, if you have any. When a page sponsorship appears in the 'Current Selection' area, you can click on the Sponsor Name to test to make sure your link is going to where you think it should be going. Remember, all web pages should start with http:// and any e-mail links should start with mailto:
