Why Can't I Use Banners Instead Of Text Messages?
Google has made billions of dollars over the past few years by convincing the advertisers, publicists and promoters that humans respond better to text messages than banner ads. There are a number of articles and studies freely available on the Internet that seem to support their position, in an academic way. People who have been on the Internet for a while seem to develop an image banner blindness that pretty much makes it tough to get them to respond to your ad. You've also got software out there that is pretty good at blocking all banner ads and click throughs from ever getting through.
We've decided to offer text oriented sponsorship for these reasons.
But I Still See Banners On The Guitar Nine Site, Don't I?
Yes, you will. Banner ad space is given away to artists selling on the site as a reward for sales of their products on our site. Their banners are limited in scope, and only appear on non-sponsored pages. Guitar Nine Records also still rotates in some of our own old banners to promote various areas of the web site. The bottom line is that the banner ads are the past, and text sponsorships are the future.
