San Francisco area guitarist Chris Michie's Goyer Golf Suite is a 21 track, 70-plus minute CD offering a breathtaking cross-section of electric guitar-based instrumentals (both atmospheric and straight forward) in the spirit of melodic guitar masters like Hank Marvin and Jan Akkerman. According to Michie, "This CD is the culmination of years of careful and loving work that reflects the true nature of what I think guitar instrumental music should be like." Michie handles much of the instrumentation on Goyer Golf Suite (years of recording and touring with Van Morrison, Link Wray, Stevie Wonder, Boz Scaggs and Jerry Garcia, among others has honed his musicianship), and the melodic blues/rock is always dead-on. Great concept CD, a soundtrack for the pastoral splendor of the fairways, greens and roughs of a new course.
