Raised in Colorado, Gary Meyers has been studying the guitar for over 20 years. Early influences include Ace Frehley, Steve Vai, Edward Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Randy Rhodes. Since meeting and studying under guitar virtuoso Rene Heredia, flamenco heroes such as Sabicas, Paco De Lucia, Nino Richardo, and Rene Heredia himself have become new influences. For the ten instrumental flamenco tracks on A Flamenco Journey, Meyers played a handmade Tenorio guitar (#19), dubbed 'The Viking'.
