The Moe Greene Specials

Moe Greene Specials
Sold through Guitar Nine thru 2012

In the summer of 2000, guitarist Kristof Janssens and drummer Gert Herrijgers put up an old drum kit, a shook-up bass-amp and a guitar with four strings and start goofing off and playing around with riffs and rhythms. When their good friend Koen Van Loon passes by, the three decide to start a surf combo. Come a year, Mr. Janssens has put up a 'real' band with a name and a space to rehearse in. The Moe Greene Specials (film buffs know why) come together in the old cinema Rex. The atmosphere and old images of a long gone glory in film is all around them. Mr. Van Loon has learned to handle the trumpet by now and the band works hard on material, but musicians come and go. It's only when Mr. Peter Lodiers joins the band that everything musically comes together. He writes most of the songs and Mr. Herrijgers makes the switch from drums to bass. The Moe Greene Specials is their perfect mix of surf, Stax soul and Americana. They've mastered the art of putting music into images, know how to create the right atmosphere through their crafty arrangements. They can shoot movies without a camera, make music with a bleeding heart and a beating soul.

Moe Greene Specials is in the musicians directory — hear them on Apple Music.
