The Undiscovered: Britt Peters & Lars Lehmann
The German duo of vocalist Britt Peters and bassist Lars Lehmann have released their CD Rebirth, featuring music with a strong emotional impact, performed primarily with just the bass and Peters' voice. Lehmann, as you might expect, takes the bass in a lot of directions - as a melodic counterpoint, as a soloist, laying a harmonic framework - just about everything except what you might anticipate. For example, their cover of "Fever" opens with an over one minute bass solo. The pair's repertoire features special arrangements of well-known pop and rock standards, including Lionel Richie's "Hello", James Brown's "I Feel Good", Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" and Queen's "Love Of My Life", as well as jazz standards, such as "Like Someone In Love". Their versions are unique, haunting, and personal, and you'll hear each song as if you're listening for the first time. Well done.
Britt is currently working as a live/studio vocalist, with artists such as Randy Crawford, Fury In The Slaughterhouse, Terry Hoax, Maricel and many more as a backup singer. Lars also works as a live/studio musician with the likes of Maria Glen, Cultured Pearls, G.G. Anderson and Meike Koester. Since 1996, Lars has been editor of Bass Professor, a German-language bass magazine, and has been doing bass clinics and workshops all over Germany. The duo's three-track demo entitled "Vocals & Bass" was completed in 1999, and in December, 2002, their full length CD Rebirth was released. Both artists have also participated and played in several musicals.
Rebirth represents the result of two professional musicians putting their love, time and work into a project that stands for "real" music with a strong emotional aspect.
