The Undiscovered: Dave Bates

Guitarist Dave Bates submitted a two-song demo CD-R with rough mixes from his upcoming debut instrumental guitar CD, entitled "The Trouble With You...", which will be released on Rock Guitar Records. The two cuts, "Stuck In The Mud" and "Hard Life" are both raucous examples of the formidable technique that Bates possesses on the instrument. While the drum machine backing groove doesn't match up with the metallic onslaught, guitar fanatics can concentrate on what's important--the shred, the speed and the intensity. Aficionados of heavy instrumental rock will have to wait for Bates to finish tracking and mixing his new CD, before their thirst for Bates' brand of guitar wizardry.

Dave is featured in the Metal Method "Ozzy Styles" guitar instructional video, which is distributed worldwide. In addition the Ozzy video, Dave is featured in two other videos, "Stevie Ray Vaughan Style" and "The Metal Video". He is a graduate of the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California. Dave has over 17 years experience as a player/teacher and has amassed numerous studio and club dates nationally. He has also done clinics for T.C. Electronics.

Bates is currently featured in a weekly online guitar lesson for Rock Guitar Online. He is maintaining a busy performance schedule, gigging with the Dave Paris Project, Blizzard of Ozz and Kill Van Kull. Bates still manages to find time to teach at two California music stores - North Valley Music and Instrumental Music.
