The Undiscovered: Joe Granata

Milk-curdling runs. Gut-pounding rhythms. Head-out-the-window vocals. Pinched squeals. Fingers-on-the-chalkboard dissonance. All this and more are the featured attractions on Joe Granata's CD, A Long Road To Hell. Granata takes his guitar, bass and throat on his descent to the abyss, cutting heads and vocal chords with Lucifer, Prince Of Darkness, himself on the six guttural tracks. Granata is assisted on his one-way, non-stop, all-expenses-paid journey to damnation in the lake of eternal fire by Aaron Martin on drums. The tracks are influenced by '70s and '80s metal, including bands and performers such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Randy Rhoads and DImebag Darrell. The arpeggios in the track "Back To Life" seem particularly similar to a Rhoads-era Ozzy Osborne song from "Diary Of A Madman" or "Blizzard Of Ozz". Granata's debut CD is his part to contributing to the return of powerful guitar rock.

Joe has been playing guitar since the age of twelve. During his grade school years he also picked up the trumpet, saxophone and drums, finally settling on the electric guitar after listening to the play of Randy Rhoads and Metallica's Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield. Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen and many others have all been a huge influence on his early playing style. Joe's diverse taste in music caters to audiences who love everything from hard rock and metal to thrash and blues. Joe has a natural passion and interest in music of all genres and is determined to gain mastery of the instrument. Granata is currently studying ways to interpret and perfect the neo-classical style of guitar play made famous by the likes of Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Angelo Batio and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Granata is trying to attract attention and become known as a solo performing artist but would also welcome the opportunity to audition for any established bands that are looking for someone with his musical orientation.
