If The Earth Was A Woman

Neil Haverstick
Sold through Guitar Nine thru 2012

Reviewer Bret Saunders, "If you put Neil Haverstick's 2002 CD If The Earth Was A Woman into your CD player, you'll hear the influence of the scope of music inside his head. From breakneck country to an apparent Frank Zappa homage to reggae and frenzied guitar pummeling of many varieties, the common ground he finds on all these tracks is a keen sense of improvisation. His music may not be straight ahead jazz on the surface, but most of what he does is touched by its extemporaneous spirit. There are tracks on the album, as well as on his previous outings, where scales of 19 and 34 notes are employed. These notes between the familiar notes give Haverstick a wider range of expression."
