Songs Of Truth And Judgment is the crystallization of Waldon Reed Jr.'s very early 'vision' - to write a rock opera in the spirit of works like "Jesus Christ Superstar" and/or "Tommy", but commercially just a little bit 'left of center'. Like Webber, Reed turned to holy scripture for the inspirational impetus of this work. Rather than using a single plot/storyline, Reed decided that each of the 11 songs would be a separate concept or event. Ultimately, this work is a collection of dramatic songs rather than a true rock opera. In spite of the fact that this recording is more of a showcase of Reed's compositional skills than his guitar virtuosity, there are enough guitar 'gems' here to remind us that indeed this is a guitar player's recording. Substantially noteworthy are the near genius performances of virtuoso vocalists Raymond and Dawn Roberts.
