The Early Years spans a ten-year period from 1978 through 1987, and involves five vocal groups that guitarist Michael Fath was involved with during that period. Selections include tracks from the bands Wizzard (a five piece rock and roll band reminiscent of Queen, Styx and Todd Rundgren), Orphan (a power trio with the fabulous front singer Kris Pettit-Fath that were described as 'Van Halen with a girl'), King Dazzle (another power trio featuring fast, under-four-minute rockers), Meyerriecks and Fath (an acoustic duo modeled after Al DiMeola and Paco De Lucia instrumental projects) and the Michael Fath Band (commercial heavy rock, whatever that is). The Early Years is a fascinating look back at the vocal and band recordings that helped Michael Fath develop his indominable instrumental style, which hit the scene a few years later.
