Guitar style linked to players such as Victor Wooten.
Whenever Victor Wooten takes the stage or steps into the studio, we expect nothing less than world-class musicianship. So it comes as no surprise that Mr. Wooten’s signature Fodera bass is a serious, ultra-premium instrument. Fodera, after all, enjoys a reputation as the Ferrari of boutique basses. The Fodera Yin-Yang Standard gives you the superior playability, sonics, and build quality of Victor’s Deluxe model, in a more affordable axe. Premium tonewoods — a mahogany body, mahogany top, 3-piece hard-rock maple neck, and ebony fingerboard — combine with EMG P/J pickups and proprietary Fodera x Trickfish preamp to deliver sculptable high-fidelity bass tone that will grace any music genre.
Based on Victor Wooten’s signature custom Fodera bass, the Yin-Yang Standard takes the series to a new level of sonic supremacy. Premium tonewoods are used throughout, including a resonant mahogany body, a rich mahogany top, a hard-rock maple neck, and a slick ebony fretboard. EMG active P/J pickups deliver premium tone, with versatile sound-shaping provided by the Fodera x Trickfish preamp.
The Fodera Yin-Yang Standard features a pickup spacing that is in the sweet spot between typical ’60s and ’70s spacing. The neck pickup is positioned optimally to deliver the muscular low-end girth you expect from a vintage P-style split-coil. Dial in the growl with the J-style bridge pickup, which has the perfect amount of midrange presence, along with ample warmth and body. This pickup combination is ideal for finding your place in a dense mix and punching through the track.
The Fodera x Trickfish preamp is an enhanced iteration of Fodera’s onboard preamp, developed in collaboration with the renowned tone experts at Trickfish Amplification. This exceptional preamp offers unrivaled performance, featuring a lower noise floor and extended battery life compared to previous models. It’s compatible with both active and passive pickups, and it operates in both Active and Passive modes. Additionally, it features a passive Tone knob that functions in both modes, along with a shapeable active EQ. The Fodera x Trickfish preamp also allows for deep configuration via internal dip switches, enabling you to easily adjust the preamp’s overall output gain, the frequency sweep of its passive Tone control, its lowpass and highpass filters, and the frequency center of its active Midrange tone control — no soldering or additional circuit jumpers required. With the Fodera x Trickfish preamp, dialing in your signature sound is moments away.
Established in 1983 by custom luthier Vinny Fodera and pro bassist Joey Lauricella, Fodera enjoys a reputation as the Ferrari of boutique basses. Fodera basses give you the superior playability, sonics, and build quality of the custom models played by bass legends such as Victor Wooten, Anthony Jackson, and Oteil Burbridge — in a more affordable axe. Handcrafted in the US with the same materials by the same top luthiers, Fodera “production” instruments offer no options, allowing them to be built in small runs instead of one-offs, thus holding down the cost.
