G&L SB-2 Electric Bass

The year is 1982 and the SB-2 is launched into the musical stratosphere with the latest Leo Fender Saddle Lock bridge and pickup innovations. Decades later, G&L pays tribute to that iconic bass with this incarnation of the G&L SB-2. It grooves comfortably thanks to a Medium "C"-shaped maple neck covered with a sleek maple fingerboard. Compared to the 1982 SB-2, this alder-bodied bass benefits from enhancements in sculpting, making it more sleek and balanced. This iteration of the SB-2 is a veritable workhorse, ripe with a less-is-more visual appeal and incredible sonic capabilities hidden within. It features Leo Fender-designed Magnetic Field Design pickups — a J-style single-coil in the bridge and a P-style split-coil in the middle. Plug in the SB-2 and buckle up for a smooth ride through massive sound that’s balanced with detail.

The SB-2’s Saddle Lock bridge reduces lateral movement of the saddle pieces by tightening an Allen screw on the side of the bridge. Additionally, the Saddle-Lock bridge has a solid protrusion on its backside that is sunk firmly into the instrument’s body wood. Together, these two features make it easier for string energy to travel into the body and translate into a rich, resonant, and sustaining sound.
